Invoice limits designed to force upgrades

Invoice Simple’s published plans, verified August 2026, split invoicing into three paid tiers. Essentials is $6.99 per month and caps you at 3 invoices. Plus is $13.49 for 10. Premium is $19.99 and removes the cap.

If you invoice more than three clients in a busy month, Essentials is not a real plan. It is a trial that happens to bill you.

Why the cap exists

Three invoices covers a side project. It does not cover deposits, progress bills, and a final on the same job. Ten sounds generous until you add corrections and a second client who pays in stages. The cap is there to open the upgrade screen.

What Incusia charges instead

Incusia Starter is $9 per month with unlimited invoices. Less than half of Invoice Simple Premium. You move to Pro at $29 for automation (reminders, recurring, currencies, late fees), not for permission to send invoice number four.

Invoice Simple Premium is $239.88 a year. Incusia Starter is $108. The first-year gap is $131.88. Over five years that is $659.40, assuming no further Invoice Simple increases.

Many Invoice Simple subscriptions also pay an app-store cut. Incusia bills on the web through Stripe, so there is no Apple or Google percentage on top of your $9. You still pay card processing when a client pays. You do not pay a store tax on the software itself.

The cancellation problem nobody talks about

Independent reviews of Invoice Simple repeatedly describe cancellation as harder than signup. People report extra steps, unclear paths, or app-store rules they did not expect when they tapped Subscribe. Treat cancellation as a feature, not a footnote.

Who actually owns the bill

A large share of Invoice Simple customers subscribe through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Invoice Simple’s website is not the billing owner. Apple or Google is. Cancellation follows the store’s settings, not a button on the marketing site.

Incusia bills through Stripe on the web. Cancellation is one click in your dashboard. No email, no phone call, no retention script that blocks the button. You keep full access until the end of your current billing period.

Switching tools does not cancel an app-store subscription by itself. End Invoice Simple in Apple or Google settings first. That extra step is what trips most people up.

What happens when you switch

You can bring a client list, past invoice records, and enough payment history to keep conversations with clients intact. Export what Invoice Simple will give you (CSV or PDF), then recreate active clients in Incusia. Reissue open invoices with a note that the new invoice replaces the old one. Clients get an email with a payment button. They do not need a portal account.

Cancel the store subscription

If Invoice Simple still charges Apple or Google after you start Incusia, you will pay both for a month. Open iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions, or Google Play > Payments & subscriptions, and end it there. Confirm the next renewal is gone before you assume you are done.

A one-line note on the first Incusia invoice (“This invoice replaces Invoice Simple INV-1044”) stops the “did you bill me twice” email. Keep the old PDF for your records.

Most people finish in a weekend: create the account, add business details, enter the clients you still bill, send the next invoice. Invoice Simple is a mobile-first product from a company that has been in the category for years. Scale shows up in the help center. It also shows up when you need a person: public reviews often mention chatbots or store support instead of someone who can refund a double charge. That is how large app businesses tend to run support, not a claim that nobody at Invoice Simple ever replies.
