FreshBooks Lite is $23 per month for 5 clients, verified August 2026. Plus is $43 per month for 50 clients. Premium is $70 per month for unlimited clients. Five active clients is a small practice. The sixth client is a good month. On Lite, that good month is also an upgrade.

What the sixth client actually costs

You are on Lite at $23 with five clients. A sixth project lands. To invoice that client you move to Plus at $43. That is $20 more per month, $240 more per year, for permission to store one more name. FreshBooks also sells time tracking and proposals, and they are strong. The cap is still a price of growth.

Incusia does not meter clients. Starter at $9, Pro at $29, and Lifetime at $99 all allow unlimited clients. We meter automation (reminders, recurring, late fees) on Pro, and your logo is included on every plan. We do not meter how many people you are allowed to bill.

Agencies feel this faster than single-client consultants. A studio that adds two brand clients in a quarter can jump Lite to Plus without changing how invoices look. Plus at 50 clients is a wider net. Many freelancers never hit 50. They still pay $43 because they already spilled over 5.

Extra team members cost $11 each

FreshBooks charges $11 per month per additional team member on top of the plan price, verified August 2026 against their published add-on. Two extra people on Plus is $22 stacked on $43, or $65 per month before tax. A studio that wants the owner, a bookkeeper, and a contractor in the same account will feel that line item every renewal.

Incusia does not have team members yet. Every paid tier currently lists team seats at zero. That is a gap, not a clever way to say “unlimited.” If you need three people in the same invoice account with separate logins, FreshBooks is the honest choice today.

When team features exist, they will have a price you can see before you click. Until then, Incusia is a single-operator invoicing tool. If you are a solo freelancer, you are not missing a seat. If you are a studio, read that limitation before you migrate.

Real per-client cost comparison

Per-client math makes the Lite cap obvious. On Lite you pay $23 for up to 5 clients, which is $4.60 each if you use every slot. The sixth client is not $4.60. It is a jump to Plus at $43. Premium at $70 has no client ceiling, so per-client cost falls as you grow, after you have already agreed to $70.

Incusia Starter is $9 with unlimited clients. At 5 clients that is $1.80 each. At 6 it is $1.50. At 50 it is $0.18. The rate does not step up when the sixth person signs. Pro at $29 is still a reminder and recurring purchase, not a cap purchase.

These figures ignore team add-ons, payment processing, and taxes. They also ignore value you might actually want from FreshBooks: time tracking, project profitability, and proposals. If those are why you are on FreshBooks, the per-client table is the wrong lens. If you are on FreshBooks to send invoices, it is the right lens.

Time tracking is the honest reason to stay

A lot of FreshBooks versus cheaper invoice tool comparisons skip the feature that actually retains people: time tracking tied to the invoice. If you live in timers, retainers billed from hours, and project profitability, FreshBooks is doing a job Incusia does not do. Moving would mean a separate timer and paste-into-line-item workflow.

Incusia will not ship a fake timer to win this comparison. If hours are how you price, keep FreshBooks or keep a dedicated time tool. If you price in projects, milestones, or flat fees, the timer is unused scenery, and the client cap is the line that hurts.

Proposals are the other FreshBooks-shaped workflow. Incusia does not have e-sign proposals. We have invoices and a separate free estimate generator that is not a FreshBooks replacement. Studios that send a proposal, win the job, then invoice inside the same record should stay.
